It’s a question we get asked a lot.

We’d love to tell you that besides fostering kittens, the founder also fosters cows, but that would be a challenge in downtown Miami or NYC.

We’d love to tell you that we’re really into the health benefits of milk, but the truth is – most of our team is vegan and the rest prefers almond milk in their lattes.

It would be cool if we loved cows because of Seth Godin’s book, “Purple Cow”, but we didn’t read the book until after naming the company.

So, what’s this cow craze all about?

It was this little guy’s idea.

To be fair, he was already 11 years old at the time he came up with the name for his sister’s (SocialCow founder) new marketing company.

Enjoying a family meal at one of their favorite Indian spots, Taj Tandoor in Deer Park, NY, Kristina was mentioning creating a company separate from her digital marketing company that would concentrate specifically on social marketing.

Alex didn’t waste a beat in suggesting a name, “SocialCow”. Clearly, it stuck.

Fun facts about cows.

Through the journey of building SocialCow, we have learned quite a few facts about cows and have come to realize that we have a lot in common…take a look:

  • Cows are social animals and like to be in herds. We were, of course, very happy to learn this fact.
  • The average cow chews at least 50 times per minute. Much like our team – we love our snacks!
  • The average cow drinks 30 to 50 gallons of water each day. In Miami, we consume about as much water.
  • Moo, our hard-working mascot, is a Holstein cow (black spots). Holstein’s spots are like fingerprints – no two cows are the same! We appreciate and celebrate the differences in our team members and our clients. That’s why we do not do ‘cookie cutter’ – we prefer to form our cookies by hand and our clients with individual, local care.
